Am I Possessed? How to confirm if so?

When people first come to know about the realities of Jinn and Magic; it is natural for them to believe that all of the misery they go through, could be due to jinn. But the fact is something else. I am writing this to clarify that not all discomforts come from Jinn alone.

One has to go through a few steps to confirm if it really is a Jinn, or mere a mental/medical illness.

First of all, a Raqi (Muslim_Exorcist) is not to diagnose a Patient until he confirms that his Patient prays 5 times a day, and follows the teachings of Islaam, and is not involved in any bad practice whatsoever. If the patient is not a practicing Muslim, the Raqi ought to send him back and tell him to come back after sometime, until he becomes a Practicing Muslim – and – if the sickness still persists that is.

People most of the times believe that –

Failure in Studies
Failure in getting a Job or Getting married
Failure/Despair in Life or Family at Home and etc.

always come from Jinn. This is wrong! We should not assume this until we confirm “Are we practicing Islam in our lives?”. If the answer is No, then we should not blame the Jinn, but ourselves. For Allaah says in the Quran:

“…Indeed, he (Shaitan) sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies(friends) to those who do not believe.” [Surah Al-a’raaf: 27]

It is the Remembrance of Allaah that repels Evil. Thus we should practice Islaam in our lives, and at the same time seek refuge in Allaah from the Evil after every prayer we offer.

But then How do we confirm if someone Truly is bewitched/possessed?

1 – First of all, you need to look for symptoms. With every type of Magic comes specific symptoms. I have them mentioned before and you may follow that by clicking the link bellow:

– Types of Magic with Symptoms

If you believe that the symptoms of your illness match the ones I have mentioned in the articles above, then you may proceed to the next step in confirming whether it truly is Magic that you suffer from, or mere a medical illness. Remember, Bewitched/Touched people will always reflect a Dual Personality.

2 – A Ruqya, recitation of verses of the Quran in the ear of the Patient in order to exorcise him, is the way to confirming whether a patient is suffering from Magic, or some medical condition. The patient must have Ruqya recited to him in his ear. For more details about Ruqya, follow here:

Curing Sihr, Magic, Witchcraft, Possession-Stage I
Curing Sihr, Magic, Witchcraft, Possession-Stage II
First Condition of Patient During Ruqya
Second Condition of Patient During Ruqya
Third Condition of Patient During Ruqya

If the Magic is severe, the patient is most likely to fall into the ‘First condition’. If it is mild and very little, then it falls into the last two conditions, which will easily go away by Practicing Islaam and listening to a Ruqya 3 times in a day, by Allaah’s Will.

Even after this, if the patient does not feel any difference with it then it may well have been a Medical Condition, or simply something that was brought upon the patient as a Trial from Allaah (swt). In that case, we can only be patient and be grateful for what little we have. For Allaah is the Most Merciful, He is the Hearer of All, and Indeed nothing can harm anything without His Permission.

here are three stages to fully cure an affected patient,

1 – Pre-treatment
2 – Treatment
3 – Post-Treatment

I will write about the Pre-treatment in this article, and the second stage in the next article Insha’Allah.

Pre-Treatment

If you are planning on curing your loved ones yourself without taking them to an exorcist, you may do so by doing the following. Just so you know, it involves speaking to the jinn appointed for the task itself. So you must be prepared for that beforehand.

Place of treatment

Remove pictures from the place of treatment so that angels may enter.
Narrated Abu Talha: I heard Allah’s Apostle saying;“Angel (of Mercy) do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or a picture of a living creature (a human being or an animal).”
(Al-Bukhari, Book #54, Hadith #448)

There should be no music in the place of treatment.

The place of treatment should be devoid of any unlawful act, such as men wearing gold, women without Hijab, or anyone smoking.

Once the room is cleaned, the healer should recite Adhaan (call to prayers) in a loud voice, to ward off any evil spirit from the place of treatment.

Diagnosing the case of Sihr & Checking for Symptoms.

If you have not read about the types of Magic and Sihr, you may read them in the article:

Types of Sihr/Magic

You can follow the details of every type of magic/witchcraft along with its symptoms from the CONTENTS PAGE

Lecturing the patient and his family on the Aqeedah (Oneness of Allah), so that their hearts are cleansed from any attachment to anything other than Allah.

Ask questions relevant to their condition. They might come to you with a doubt in their mind, and you will ask questions in the same relevance. The reason for asking questions is only to confirm which type of Sihr/Magic has affected the patient. Once you are sure of the type of Sihr used, you may go on with the treatment afterwards.

Taking talismans/unknown amulets from the patient and burning it. (Facts about Amulets)
Do wudu (cleaning oneself for prayer), or ghusl (bath), tell everyone who are with you or with the patient to do the same.

If the patient is a female

Do not treat a woman who has not covered herself and if she is wearing perfume.
Do no start treatment until she (the patient) covers her hair and body, it should be recommended to fasten her garments well so that her body is not revealed during the process of treatment.

Do not treat a woman unless one of her maharim (unlawful person to marry) is present.
