What is Sihr & Its Effects

Sihr in English terms is Black Magic or Jadu according to the Indian understanding. We do not like to use the word BLACK MAGIC because some people believe that even BLACK MAGIC can be good, whereas no Black Magic can be good because it all involves Shirk. Allah also uses the word SIHR in Quraan and we understand that this word only relates to evil and wrong doing.

Sihr has primary effects and secondary effects. The primary effect is to block a persons life and this will show that the person is affected with Sihr. The secondary effect of Sihr will show us how the Sihr has been done and that will give us the clue for the treatment. This is the way to proceed when diagnosing.

Diagnosing is a revolution in Ruqya because once you know and identify the problem, then you have won 50% of the fight. An example of explanation will be that if you put a sweet on the floor it will attract many ants. If you remove the ants then more will come. The idea is to remove the sweet in order to also easily stop more ants from coming. In this example the sweet represents the Sihr and the ants represent Jinn. The Sihr is the actual “black magic” that is sent to the person to destroy their life, and it is the Sihr that makes the person feel all the symptoms.

THE EFFECTS OF SIHR

There are many ways in which Sihr is done, however, most people feel the effects in four basic categories of their life. The four categories are listed below. Please bare in mind that these categories give just a basic idea of how the Sihr may have been done or wether or no the person may even be affected with Sihr.

1. EATEN SIHR

When a person has eaten Sihr, they will have unusual pains in the stomach that may last for months or even years. Doctors will give names for these pains like ulcers, cron disease, piles, consistent constipation, acid reflux, etc. This type of Sihr can be removed with Senna leaves or Sidr mixed with Quraan. Eaten Sihr can also be done by accident, but the person will not feel the full effects of the Sihr because the Sihr may have been meant for someone else – Allah knows best.

2. SIHR PUT IN THE BODY

This type of Sihr is sent with the Jinn to put in the body. It could be anywhere like in the brain, chest, stomach, legs, private parts etc. You recognise this by the pains the patients will have. The pains will always be UNUSUAL and REPETITIVE and systematic like headaches and difficulty learning, concentrating and craziness while for women it is to stop them from having babies or stop women having sexual relations with their husbands to block them totally. Sometimes this Sihr is put in the body only to keep a Jinn in the body like in the shoulder and there will be a Jinn there causing pain and blockages in life and if you try to remove that Jinn it will be difficult because it will be attached to the Sihr.

How can you be sure that the pain is due to Sihr and Jinn and Ayn.? You cannot be 100% sure but you will do hijaama anyway because Nabi (PBUH) said hijaama is remedy for 40 diseases. Even if the patient has a natural pain like breaking a knee, and if a Jinn comes into the body, it will likely to go into the knee and it will find that weak place, sit there and make it worse.

3. SYMBOLIC SIHR

Symbolic Sihr means that sorcerers will use symbols to harm the person like the symbol of knots – like in Surah Falaq, when they blow on knots so it means they tie up a persons life, mind or womb or relations to get confused etc. Sorcerers use symbols very much as they did for Nabi (PBUH). The hair is mostly used to affect the mind and that was how it affected Nabi (PBUH) because he was imagining things so that is to tie your mind so you cant think, then they put it in a skunk or hyhina or dry well used for toilet or under a stone all to drive someone crazy. By this method you can see that sorcery itself is just words, because if you take the hair, knots, skunk itself without saying anything then it will have no effect. It is the satanic words recited or shirk attached to the elements, however the elements are there to just make it stronger or used to improve the effects of the Sihr. Similarly like Ruqya where you use Quraan reciting, but by using things like water, oil and hijaama it is just there to increase the effect of Quraan.

4. CONTACT SIHR

Most of the time this type of Sihr is attached by walking on it. This is mostly accidentally which means someone put Sihr somewhere and anyone who walks on it will get the Sihr, or it could be for a purpose, like if they put it on your way in-front to your shop or house or somewhere where you always sit. Contact Sihr usually gives skin problems like Psoriasis or Eczema. Doctors have no explanation of how these skin diseases appear or understand how it works. Psoriasis only comes by physical contact. This Sihr also brings some Jinn. If this Sihr was not meant for you, you will still get it but the effects will be much less but if it was meant for you then you will feel the full effect.

TREATING SIHR

Sihr is treated according to how it is done, example, if eaten Sihr, it has to be removed from the stomach. Removing Sihr does not depend on the effect of Sihr but how it is done. The mistake of most people who are not experienced in Ruqya is to attack the Jinn without removing the Sihr. When the Jinn is attacked and they have been attached by Sihr this will have very little results, even if it is forced to leave, the Sihr will force it to come back. However, if the Sihr is removed them most of the time the Jinn will leave by himself because there is nothing keeping it with the person.

The Prophet (SAW) said that “Jinn are of three types: One type with wings that fly in the air, one type that are snakes and scorpions and another that settles and moves“. Jinn prefer places that have been deserted however there are some who live with humans. Many Jinn reside in rubbish bins, toilets and filthy places. They eat the food left over by humans as well as bones and animal dung, as reported by Abu Hurairah. Jinn can also take many shapes and forms but never appear to humans in their true form. Most Jinn appear to humans in dreams. They do not like making themselves apparent so remain hidden while doing the dirty work of Shaytaan. The Jinn who work for Shaytaan are called Shayateen.

There are many groups or tribes of Jinn who also follow many different religions. There are also good and bad Jinn, just like humans on earth. There are Jinn who do good work however in no way is man allowed to interact and get Jinn to work for them. We cannot ask the Jinn for assistance wether they offer it or not. All help only comes from Allah alone. Jinn are also not allowed to interact and assist man, however they sometimes come into our world and do so.

In many cultures and religions Jinn appear in different forms therefore man has given them different names. In some cultures they are called “Ghosts” or Spirits, while in others they are thought to be ancestors or the souls of dead people. At the end of the day they are all the same thing – JINN.

When it comes to Sihr, Jinn are used to do the dirty work by affecting or troubling a person. Some Jinn may even become more apparent by “possessing” a person, especially when Quraan is read against them or the person tries to some closer to Allah.

THE EFFECTS OF JINN

Jinn can cause or have many effects in a persons life. Some of the effects are listed below.

1. PHYSICAL HARM

Jinn can cause physical harm to a person by means of pain or by manipulating parts of the body. This type of harm is particular difficult for doctors to detect because the scans and reports will show no problem whilst the person remains in pain.

2. POSSESSION

Possession is basically knows as a Jinn controlling a person. This is a very deep subject but because for simplicity purposes, it can be explained by means of a Jinn taking a certain amount control over a persons mind and body. In many cases the possessed person can hear and see what is going on around them but may not feel that they have full control. This often leads to fear in the person. Extracting the Jinn from a possessed person is basically done by Quraanic versus and by some minor therapy directly to the person, making them feel strong and affirming them that they have the ability to fight against the Jinn.

3. MENTAL OR EMOTIONAL

Mental or emotion effects of Jinn are often apparent when the persons personality is reported to have drastically changed. Most people become angry for no reason, have a huge amount of fear – even for small things, feel extreme sadness or loneliness, anxiety, depression and guilt. The negative emotions of the person may be justified, however the Jinn will take advantage of this emotion, perform WasWas (bad whispering) and therefore cause the problem to seem much larger than it actually is. This kind of effect causes a person become alienated from the rest of the world. Therapy is very important in the case of Jinn affecting the person emotionally.

There are many other effects Jinn have on man, but the ones listed above are the most common.

EVIL EYE AND ITS EFFECTS

Ayn (Nazr) or Evil Eye (Jealousy) is when you look at something and admire it without praising Allah or saying Maashallah and you may also have an “evil” desire for it, then that will break the Baraka (blessings) of that thing. There are some people that have the capacity to make Ayn easy, when they look at something with desire and don’t take the name of Allah then it can affect the person easily. Sometimes Ayn comes from a group also so no-one has the full capacity to make the Ayn by himself so when many people have Ayn it affects the person like Sihr and the person will feel the effects like Sihr. Ayn is not Sihr but too much Ayn gives the person the same effects like the person has Sihr so the treatment of Ayn is always included in the Ruqya.
